PHILADELPHIA, USA (OnlyInPhiladelphia.com) — Today at 4:15 PM E.T. the Eagles took on the Broncos at home at the Linc, Eagles winning it 30-27 by a 28-yard field goal kicked by David Akers with only 0:07 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter.
It was #20 safety Brian Dawkins triumphant return to Philadelphia after being with the Eagles for 13 years from 1996-2008. Also returning home was RB Correll Buckhalter, who was an Eagles Rookie back in 2001 and now playing for the Broncos.
McNabb was 20-for-35 in pass attempts for 322-yards and three big TDs, also rushed for 27-yards on a big 3rd & long late in the 4th. On the ground, Brian Westbrook lead the team with 9 carries for 32 yards after missing the past seven of eight games.
Brent Celek made four key catches throughout the game yielding 121-yards, one of them a 42-yard wide open reception and running into the endzone untouched.
Jeremy Maclin caught six passes gaining 92-yards for the Eagles (one spectacular catch as he leaped into the sidelines that was initially ruled incomplete, but was officially reviewed and overturned), while Desean Jackson was held to a modest 33-yards, and four grabs with one TD in the first half.
Quarterback for the Broncos Kyle Orton was 27-for-41 throwing the football for 189-yards, three touchdown completions, and one interception by Asante Samuel, who has nine this season.
Jabar Gaffney was Orton’s main target, securing seven passes with him for 69-yards and two touchdowns, making a strong presence in the 2nd half aiding in reducing Denver’s point deficit.
Brandon Marshall was another Bronco target, catching eight balls gaining 39-yards.
Ironically the leading rusher for the Broncos was none other than Correll Buckhalter who was limited to only 42-rushing-yards.
The Broncos fall to 8-7, tying themselves with four other teams for the two remaining wild-card spots in the AFC.
The Eagles still secured the No.2 playoff seed, their 6th consecutive win, and now an 11-4 record. They also have scored 429 points this season, beating the Eagles Franchise Record of 416-points from 2008.
