Borough Officials Distance Themselves from the Infamous Reality Show.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ (OnlyinPhiladelphia.com) — In a statement released by the Jersey Shore itself (well, at least the Borough Administrator of Seaside Heights) they would like nothing more than to have nothing to do with the “Jersey Shore” reality show that is presently airing.

“The governing body wants it to be known that they did not solicit, promote or participate in the filming of this show,” borough Administrator John A. Camera informs in a statement. “Furthermore, the borough does not condone any discriminatory remarks against Italian-Americans, domestic violence or the promiscuous and otherwise bad behavior portrayed on the show. The people on the show are certainly not indicative of the majority of those who visit, and enjoy the Jersey Shore and Seaside Heights every summer.”

Certainly not indicative of the majority of those who visit? Well I’ll say.

Regardless of the many efforts that continue to rise against it, seemingly the ratings seem to rise just as much. In mid December, there were 2.5 million viewers aged 18-49 reports TVGuide. As an avid and loyal Jersey Shore goer myself, I was curious to see an MTV Reality premiere in the local area along with 1.3-million other viewers on December 4th.

I want to hear from you, the guilty pleasure viewers of the “Jersey Shore”. Have government officials gone too far to dismiss this show to the public and it’s viewers, or does this show represent legitimate forms of discrimination, poor judgment, and offensive content justified to be unacknowledged by shoreline officials?
