[OnlyinPhiladelphia.com] – The 2010 International Flower show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center is giving the Northeast and much of the world a warm burst of spring this year, as they appropriately do every time this time of year.
It is the largest indoor flower show in the world, voted among the 100 best events in the United States in 2010 by the American Bus Association, after a record shattering winter in Philly, there is no better time to indulge in the sensations of spring at the Flower Show, held from Feb. 28 to March 7.
Tourism dollars are very vital for Philadelphia’s economy to prosper, and each year the improving Flower Show reels in the dough, big time, with an estimated 250,000 people annually.
The exhibits are what attracts most guests from around the globe, well recognized for its science to get flowers fully blossomed by the time the Flower Show begins.
“Flower Show garden display exhibitors undertake the art of forcing trees, shrubs and perennials into bloom for the Show, using temperature and lighting controls to “fool” plants into full bloom in time for the March event,” the official Flower Show site reads.
“Indeed, one of the reasons the Philadelphia International Flower Show is considered the premier gardening event of its kind in the world is due in large part to the exceptional talent of these designers and their ability to exhibit such a great variety of exceptional plants for the Show.”
Both the garden and floral displays are equally impressive, recalling from personal experience.
There are 60 professional landscapers, florists, and horticultural and educational organizations that come together to bring the show to life.
Your journey around the planet begins right here in Philly– India, Brazil, the Netherlands, South Africa, New Zealand and Singapore all have their own respective exhibits to bring the audience to the far reaches of Mother Earth.
For those interested in gardening, 150 gardening presentations are held throughout the week if you are interested in the free information.
The Flower Show will have it’s own marketplace for those one-of-a-kind ‘Only In Philadelphia’ gifts, as well as my personal favorite: The International Wine & Spirits Garden, providing the Flower Show guests with liquor labels from the world, in sync with the global reach of the show.
Wine sampling will be offered, and so will a variety of liquors expected to go on sale at the show.
For those new to the city or visiting from all over the world, the PA Convention Center is located in Philadelphia’s 12th & Arch Streets.
