(OiP)— “Sitting in the dark with no power– freezing my arse off,” said Nikki Phillips, a SE Pennsylvania resident, one of the thousands of whom lost power after the storm this weekend. “Blacked out for 30+ hours.”
PECO Energy has reportedly restored the power of 90,000 customers since the storms and serious winds picked up said a PECO spokesperson.
“A very destructive storm with winds gusting higher than 55 mph hit the region yesterday, knocking down whole trees and numerous spans of wires leaving thousands of PECO customers without power. A majority of the outages are in Bucks and Montgomery counties,” it stated on PECO’s website.
“While we expect to make major progress restoring power today, we know that some customers will be without power into Monday.”
The expected causes of the large-scale blackout are trees that were uprooted from the high wind levels due to soil that was already saturated and weakened.
PECO’s Storm Central also added that crews & utilities came from all over the state of Pennsylvania and Michigan to aid in the resoration efforts.
“We know our customers’ lives are impacted when they are without electricity. But, first and foremost, we want to keep our customers safe.”
