President Obama is slated to throw out the first pitch as the Phillies open their 2010 season against the Washington Nationals. The Phillies are pumped to have the country watch them on opening day since this game will be televised state wide.

The game will take place in Washington, at National’s Park. This game will mark the 100th anniversary of a President throwing out the first pitch in the nations capitol. The tradition was started by Howard Taft in 1910. This historic event also marks the 48th time a President has thrown out the opening pitch to mark the start of the MLB season.

The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 and will feature the debut of Phillies brand new pitching ace Roy Halladay. Officials are urging fans that are attending the game to get there two hours early due to extra security brought out due to the Presidents presence.
