Pinot Boutique in Old City Now Proud to Offer Wine for Sale

PHILADELPHIA, USA [OnlyInPhiladelphia.com] – PINOT Boutique’s location in Old City is (happily) being forced to change its slogan from “everything but the grape” to “everything AND the grape(s).” That’s right: this popular Old City spot for wine accessories, wine classes, and private parties since 2006, is now SELLING WINE to the public!
People familiar with the stringent and confusing local liquor laws will surely be pleased with this new development. The way it works is this: the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board allows for wineries in the state to sell their wines in up to 5 separate locations. PINOT has partnered with Paradocx Vineyard in Chester to become one of their 5 locations.
PINOT Boutique, located at 227 Market Street, has been offering wine for purchase now for the past two weeks.
“There is a certain excitement in having wine for sale,” Dan Soskin, owner/manager of PINOT Boutique, explained, as most people do not think of having wine sold anywhere other than state wineries or liquor stores.
The wine in particular that is receiving the most buzz is the wine in a paint can, which holds between 3 and 3.5 liters at approximately the same price at the typical bottled wine. Paradocx has a patent for the packaging of the unique paint can wines, Soskin said.
Choose from a white, known as the “Whitewash” for $24.99 (3 liters), a red – “Barn Red,” and a blush – “Pail Pink.” All are available in 3.5 liters liter cans for $34.99. Just hold a glass up to the spout, press, and pour; the paint can wines are especially good for parties.
In addition to the paint cans, bottled wine is also sold. Fourteen different varieties including whites, reds, and blushes are for sale ranging in price from $14.99 to $39.99. All wines are also available cold – perfect for those on their way to a BYOB.
Wine is not the only item attracting attention at Pinot. The specialty retail store has been offering fun, fashionable, and functional wine accessories since the beginning. These unique items also serve as great gift ideas.
Some of the “fun products” offered, according to Soskin, are attachable drink coasters, wine totes and wine tote purses, and funky corks with catchy sayings, such as “Conserve Water, Drink Wine” and “Wines Constantly.” Graphic tees and tanks are even sold with these sayings plus more, such as “Kiss My Glass,” “Group Therapy” (with images of different size wine glasses) and “Evolution of a Wine Snob” – sure to put a smile on any wine lover’s face.
And if you think you’ve seen it all, guess again: there is even furniture made from wine barrels.
Among the most popular products right now is the Soiree wine decanter, as well as aerators, which infuse wine with oxygen, allowing it “to breathe” instantly. These items range in price from approximately $29 to $99.
If you’re looking for a good time rather than a specific item, PINOT offers private parties in its wine cellar – also the location of wine classes for the wine novice to the wine connoisseur, starting at 6:30 p.m. Eight classes are currently being offered.
PINOT Boutique is surely a wine lover’s paradise open 7 days a week (yes, they even sell wine on Sunday!) where you are sure to now find “everything AND the grape(s).”
