PHILADELPHIA, PA [OnlyInPhiladelphia.com] – If you’re ever in the mood to tame those animal instincts, look no further than the brand new Crocodile Bar in Old City.
There will be a grand opening preview event on August 28th followed by the official grand opening the weekend of September 10th.
If you’re itching to see what this Sneak Preview Party(Aug 28th) is all about, be sure to sign up on the guest list to get in! Our guests will enjoy half priced drinks, and will feature Bacardi flavored cocktails. Get on the list here!
Upon entering this latest Old City hot spot, you will find that the downstairs décor resembles that of the typical Irish pub, with mahogany bars, mirrors, leather booths, a juke box, plenty of seating, and, of course, some “Crocodile” themed art work. In addition, there is a stage for live karaoke that is planned for Tuesday nights starting in the fall.
The Crocodile, which originated in New York City’s East Village as well as Chicago, is specifically known for its pizza. A variety of personal pizzas, paninis, and salads are offered – all at can’t beat prices – no more than $2 or $3. The Crocodile is especially famous for its specialty pizzas. These include the pasta-penne, ricotta, mozzarella, marinara, as well as their white and good fellas (meat-lover) pizzas. Then there is the blue ribbon/cordon bleu pizza, which consists of chicken cutlet, ham, mozzarella, marinara, and ricotta cheese.
To its loyal customers in New York and Chicago, The Crocodile is not just known as any old “pizza bar.” They think of it as the “free pizza bar,” due to the famous margherita pizza special the establishment is known for.
According to partner John McGillion, “We are basically a bar that serves personal pizzas at fire-sale prices. The pizzas – especially the prices — they’ve been in the oven and been burnin’ for a while.”
As far as drinks go, The Crocodile offers its special “croc-tails” for the guys, such as the ”Midnight Rambler” and “Gustave’s Gusto,” named after a crocodile in Africa that allegedly ate 300 people. However, the most “girly” of the croc-tails that women enjoy the most is the “Jewel of Denile,” which consists of vodka, champagne, and strawberry puree.
Ever with a large group and in the mood for something that can be shared? The Crocodile also features croc-bowls, such as the “Shark Attack,” “Crocodile Swamp,” and “Raspberry Cotton Candy” – all large and perfect for sharing.
The venue does not just aim to be known for the pizza, but also as a new addition to Old City nightlife. Party packages last for two hours and are offered seven days a week; choose from the “Mugger,” “Freshwater,” and “Nile” at various prices.
