If you’re going to be anywhere near 15th Street and JFK Blvd. tomorrow, be sure to get your share of the Philly classic for free, courtesy of the Philly Homegrown Campaign! Philly Homegrown is an initiative of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation whose goals are to broaden the market for local food and amplify the work of the local food movement of Greater Philadelphia.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 25th starting at 11 a.m., Frog Commissary Catering founder Steve Poses will serve up free cheese steaks at the Mayor’s Farmer’s Market at LOVE Park on the corner of 15th Street and JFK Boulevard.
All of the ingredients used in the cheese steaks will be homegrown, meaning that they come from within a 100-mile radius of the city. Poses will crank out 250 cheese steaks, cutting them into quarters to serve 1,000 people. But beware, this won’t be an ordinary Philly classic, Poses will be topping it off with his sweet-and-hot pepper mix.
Make sure you get there early to claim your “steak” in this free for all! There’s bound to be a few scuffles over who snatches the 1,000th.
