PHILADELPHIA, PA — A church and residents near an adult video store in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia are fighting against an electronic upgrade to the store’s 110-foot billboard.
Risque Video, which specializes in pornographic films and sex toys, was granted a variance to install a LED digital billboard on the 4800 block of James Street in April. Permission to build the double-sided board that would flash and change at four to six-second intervals was given despite the fact that zoning code laws prohibit billboards with flashing lights within 1,000 feet of residences, according to PlanPhilly.com.
