PHILADELPHIA, PA — On Tuesday Aug. 10th just before last call a Septa Bus had run into the Monk’s Cafe leaving major building damage. 

A DPRA vehicle was responding to a women screaming and struck the Septa bus.  The bus then jumped the curb and split by a light pole as it rammed the Monk’s building.  The bar was open, but nobody was hurt inside the facility.

Restaurant owner Tom Peters, who lives in the building, was awoken when he saw a cloud of dust and the bus in the front part of his restaurant.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Jefferson Hospital to be treated.

Monk’s Cafe suffered major damage. The buidling also has residents who live in apartments who were evacuated.

The Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania is setting up a shelter for any residents displaced by the accident.
