The blue blazer, the American classic

Seen as a symbol of the aristocratic upper class, the blue blazer has been an American classic since the JFK era. Prep school kids far and wide are reaching for their trusty blazer and khaki pants as their everyday uniform as you read this article. The blue blazer look is no longer something that will delineate “status”, but, will show that you understand a staple in men’s style.

More than just a combination piece to be worn with a navy suit or khaki pants, the blue blazer can make the shift of being paired colored pants and fabrics. One of the growing looks for the blow blazer is to pair it with grey pants. A great look to experiment with is a blue blazer with plaid pants. The busy plaid pattern will be grounded by the blue blazer, offering a great contrast to the outfit. Rule # 1: Tailored fit will give you a more refined look.

Rule # 2: A less structured blazer in the shoulders will give the blazer more versatility to be worn with dress pants or denim.
